We are now back the Great Wolf Lodge and had lots of fun. Great Wolf is an indoor waterpark resort and they opened one up a few months ago outside of Charlotte. First off this place was awesome – the adult gets a wristband that works to get you into the waterpark but also is your room key and works like a credit card to bill to your room. So I didn’t have to carry cash or a key for days! We had a great room where Hayley had her own ‘Wolves Den’ with bunkbeds and TV. Our room was less than a minute walk to the waterpark and arcade.
I took some photos but often I was too damp to get out the camera plus the lighting is wonky. We did the waterpark each day – Hayley’s favorite was the Howling Tornado ride which kicked my butt. I liked the huge 1,000 gallon water drop every few minutes, the fake beach pool that had high tide every 10 minutes and playing basketball in the pool. We hit the spa, the arcade, their version of Build-a-bear and Hayley played Magiquest several times every day, which was spread out all over three floors of the resort. She eventually finished all the quests and got a “Questmaster” badge. We left the resort one night to head into Charlotte to see some old college friends Mary and Hillary with her adorable daughter Vivian. It was so good to see them!!
We are wiped out! We loved the place – it’s pricey but with everything in the resort, it was so simple to just chill out and have a blast.

One of our super favorite perfomers Leslie Hall was profiled on CNN!! And OMG, she’s in talks for a show on HBO!!! I thought seeing her live and on Yo Gabba Gabba was a big deal – an entire show of the Midwest Diva and her lady jams might just blow my mind!

I don’t think I got one good photo but we did have a fun time at the beach with our friend Sara and her sons. Plus we got to see our friend Jenna and her family which was great but I didn’t even get out my camera then. The kids did get to see little sharks down on the beach late at night which was very cool.

For our 11th wedding anniversary, we went to one of our favorite restaurants for dinner – The Melting Pot. It was amazingly good and we were stuffed! Someone went a bit chocolate crazy at the end…

and ps Jeff, I love you more today than I did when I said I do 11 years ago or even when we started dating 13 years ago. Thank you for a wonderful life, for always believing in me and supporting me. I have no idea how I got this lucky!

We went to play some golf over at UNC’s golf course Finley with Grandpa Gordon and had a lot of fun.

We went to the Carolina Rollergirls Roller Derby and it was such fun to watch.
Hayley was in love with watching them race around and thump each other – I fear she’ll run away to join them. She was so energetic early on but since she had a swim meet this morning, she eventually hit the wall and crawled up in Daddy’s lap (note the mugging for the camera).
Carolina lost to the NYC Gotham team but it was a good time anyway! A tip – horrible hard seats in Dorton Arena so if you go, bring your own bag chairs and sit down on the floor.

This is totally dorky of me but two kids from Hayley’s scrabble club ended up winning the national scholastic Scrabble tournament! They had on their club shirts that I designed for the tournament AND for their appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live out in LA – it was that big a deal! Hayley’s half-sisters came with her first grandmother and grandfather to visit during this Memorial Day weekend. My folks and Aunt Cathie came over to go to lunch together as well. Hayley was happy to see everyone and it was a nice visit.
