We are back from a fun-filled trip to Great Wolf Lodge with our next-door neighbors and their two kids. Jeff had to be at work so he kindly took care of Annabelle and our neighbor’s pup too while we all goofed off for three days. The kids spent lots of time at the waterpark – the beauty of going during the week is much shorter lines for the rides. Hayley and Mason played Magiquest for hours and had a sleepover each night. We had fun checking out the GWL’s Halloween stuff, the decorations were really neat.
Most of the photos are with my iphone or Hayley’s camera – which in low light in a waterpark or lodge mean they are pretty grubby shots. But oh well, we were too busy relaxing and having fun to worry about it.

So last week Jeff figured out a mistake in the show Raising Hope – something in an episode conflicted with another episode.
On a whim, I tweeted Greg Garcia, the guy who created the show to ask him about it. Amazingly he tweeted me back and confirmed they screwed up. I told him that made our night, how much we loved the show and how my daughter was excited b/c Greyson Chance will play young Jimmy. He tweeted back that we’d love the next ones and that Shannon says hi, sending us this photo:
A photo of Shannon Woodward (aka Sabrina on the show) waving hello to us!
We were so excited. This was the night before their season premiere and the show creator is tweeting with us, taking photos for us! So Hayley took the iPad and sent a message to Shannon via Greg.
Greg went even further and took a photo of Shannon and Kate Micucci (aka Shelley who runs the crazy dog, pet, baby daycare on the show) holding up the babies that PLAY HOPE and sending a message back to Hayley!
HOW COOL WAS THAT? I love the internet. This is the guy who not only created Raising Hope but also My Name is Earl and Yes, Dear… messing around online with some fans.

It’s hard to dislike birthdays when you have these two loves to celebrate with.

I’m so behind in posting photos again. Then I actually looked at the pages here and lordy those are way behind too. Hayley’s in seventh grade and some places still reference fourth grade – oops. Two of our pups on our dogs page have passed away, Buster our beagle last month. I’ve got to update things around here.
Until I do, here are three lovely photos the amazing Graham Morrison took of Hayley.
Her hair was pink for most of the late summer too:

The photos are a bit blurry as Hayley took them in the NCCU gym (and gyms always have terrible light) but they are pretty awesome photos of Hayley and her friend with some very cool folks at NC ProAm basketball tonight. They were excited to watch some summer basketball and get autographs from a bunch of UNC players – Harrison Barnes, Kendall Marshall, Dexter Strickland, PJ Hairston, Raymond Felton and John Henson.
I’ll post more pictures later.

Kendall wore some neon pink laces and Hayley loves neon and had her own neon laces on tonight so he took a photo of she and her friend’s shoes with his and tweeted it. I love that kid!

We went up to Blacksburg for a Fourth of July vacation. Blacksburg is so lovely in the summer when it is just sweltering down here. I know Jeff was happy to visit Virginia Tech’s campus as well since it had been a few years.
The big news was that Jeff and his folks ran the Shawsville 5K. Jeff did great for his first race, his mom was first in her age group and his dad was third – the rest of us just slept in and then drove around in the Jeep cheering for them. Just for the record, Grandma Sharen crushed everyone in croquet twice. She was on the winning girls team for games with me and Hayley as well. I think that means Grandma Sharen wins the Fourth of July.

The Ultimate Question of course is what age did Jeff turn this weekend. (i’ll assume the geeks amongst us have enjoyed my bit of Douglas Adams’ The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy humor)
I decided to get all fancypants and make him a homemade birthday cake. I did the inside in his beloved Virginia Tech colors even though it stained my Tar Heel hands. It turned out pretty cool!
My friend Jason got married that day too so we went down to Charlotte for that and then to Dave & Buster’s to goof off. I parked the jeep clearly right in the hottest part of the parking lot b/c my rear view window fell off.

We had a great time at Wrightsville during trackout. Stayed at the Blockade Runner again this year, can’t say enough about how nice the renovations are down there. We hit the beach, the aquarium, shopped, visited friends, took a horse drawn carriage ride around downtown Wilmington and a cruise on the Intracoastal Waterway where dolphins swam right up to the boat.
