Spring soccer season ended a month ago but I’ve finally got all the ones of Hayley pulled out and posted. This was the last season with the Stargazers team as they are all going their separate ways after five outdoor seasons and several indoor groups.

Crashed after the swim meet and a new hair cut. I’ll post some photos from the Saturday swim meet soon but we have a second meet tonight (Tuesday) so I’ll just post them all together.

I like this in B&W more.

New shorter hair – easier for riding and swim team.

Hayley is riding at a new stable that is fantastic. Really great teachers and facility, not to mention this stable much closer. They said she is a natural and she is really picking up more of the style of competition based equestrian stuff.
(2008 update: Trademark Stables was a great barn until they moved. At that point, we were unable to get an instructor for months on end, despite being paid up in advance. Three times we complained, twice we had new instructors contact us to get things started only to never follow up again. It was unacceptable and we left for another barn. I liked the people at Trademark but I’d be 100% sure they can schedule you for lessons and I wouldn’t pay a quarter in advance.)

We went to Senior Night for Ivory Latta and Camille Little last night. I’m really glad we went. We adore both of them so much and I really wanted to honor their contributions to UNC basketball.
I’ve been casual friends with Camille’s mom since I used to cover her in HS and remember even driving up to an inner city church in Winston to see Camille commit to UNC. Hayley loves Ivory who has been just as nice to her as someone could be, which makes me love Ivory even if she wasn’t arguably the best women’s basketball player in the country.
I took most of the non-action photos but Hayles tooks a lot of the games ones. She is getting so good. She fell asleep in the car on the way home and Jeff came out to carry her inside, so cute.

I’ve been so remiss in posting photos because I have so darned many of them from Disney and Christmas to get through. Hayley and I are over at the GSK Holiday Invitational from the 27-29th, where I’m media director and Hayley is a ballgirl (she had Coach Roy Williams sign her new high tops last night). I’ll posted a few photos of her.
So don’t think my lack of postings mean anything is wrong. We are also sorting out some issues with the blog b/c WRAL changed formats.
Day One

Handing out balls.

Watching the action with Ward, they’ve been doing this for three years so far.

Watching the inbounds
Day Two

Waiting during halftime.

Bit of ball handling skills work

Coach Roy Williams’ signature on her new high tops

I’ll post more photos soon (I know, I have so many to post) but we had a great time tonight at the UNC-VT women’s game so I had to post a few! Hayley was a ballgirl, my Mom, Dad and Aunt Cathie all game to cheer on the Heels and Jeff came in all his VT stuff. And then my good friend Margaret ended up being at the game too!
Hayley was a great ball girl and added about 10 signatures to her shoes – Coach Hatchell signed the tips of each shoe, it was cool. I got to chat with my favorite assistant coach Tracey Williams and she was telling Coach Hatchell how much I’d helped her with info on NC kids. So that was a really nice treat. It’s pretty cool when a head coach and assistant at the #2 program in the country know you by name. Hayley got to play around in the locker room as well which she loves. A good night was had by all!

The basketball season is over for the 8-9 Panthers. They were undefeated and league winners for the 2nd season (our first since Hayley is just 8). Hayley got her trophy and award at a party last week.
Hayley got the team Hustle award and her coaches said she was the scrappiest kid they had seen in several years. They continued with they could always count on her for tough defense and coming up with layups just when they needed a score.
It was a great season for Hayley, learning to play with much bigger kids and the fun of playing with all girls for the first time.

Photos from riding lessons from last week. Mason from next door came along to check out the stable as well. They are both so cute.
Hayley can now handle the horse basically on her own as well as ride bareback. She is definitely in a horse-y stage, she’d spent every day at the stable if she could!

I’ve taken photos from all of the games so far this season for the Panthers 8-9 Town of Cary team. The photos are not great – lighting in gyms like this coupled with floor glare are rough. This gallery is just ones of just Hayley.
The photo below I adore – she had six points (3-3 shooting), three steals and did so many little things right on defense and offense. She set two nice picks and she figured out how to switch to backpedaling to cut off a fastbreak – those things pleased me as much as the scoring. This is an 8-9 team and she is one of the youngest and 2nd to the smallest on the team.
