I have so many more Baltimore photos to post but I had to post these three cool ones from Charm City Cakes. Charm City Cakes is the base for one of our favorite TV shows, Ace of Cakes on the Food Network. Hayley was dying to go visit it – you can’t get in but we took some fun photos outside.
Please ignore that I need my highlights done asap. I canceled my appointment when the chaos over Hayley’s finger happened.

Humorously, Hayley was convinced that every hobo, smoking person and random guy going into a bar all worked at Charm City – I guess b/c Duff and the bunch are a bit alt/rocker/punk/grunge looking. I finally just let her think they might in lieu of explaining what potentially was some unsavory characters!

The Holly Springs Sun had an article on Hayley’s soccer team making to the finals in their first big-time away tournament in Myrtle Beach, S.C. I finally got around to scanning it in.
It was lovely to see an article on them since we had such a great time down there and the girls played so well. I was a bit astonished to be going five hours to play but it really was lots of fun.
The file is a pdf so you can read and print it easily:

Hayley tried out for an indoor regional soccer team with a bunch of her teammates.
Congratulations! Your future soccer star has been selected to participate with the First Touch Academy Indoor Team. The team will compete in the Indoor Regional Tournament in Owings Mills, MD on January, 2008.
I’m proud of her for trying out!

We are back from Myrtle Beach where Hayley’s team finished 2nd in the U10 group tournament, going 3-1! They even got cute trophies for second. Hayley played well and had a nice goal on Sunday afternoon.
We were right next to all the fun stuff so we went to the Hard Rock Cafe and MagiQuest, the kids played in the pool and had an ice cream sundae party. The funniest was excited they all were to be in a hotel WITH each other nearby. Four hours from home and we even ran into someone from our neighborhood playing for another team there.
After watching coach after coach SCREAM at their teams, we know for sure how lucky Hales is to be playing for Coach Dan.

Oh so close to a goal

Win in sudden death penalty kicks (after regular pks)

I posted these in the gallery and thought I’d posted these on here but forgot to post them on the main site. Here are two galleries, the first of Hayley with her bdad Derek, her brothers and grandparents; the second of Hayley with Nana and Poppy, her grandparents by birth.

Hayley and I went down to the beach to visit my old college roommate and pledge class buddy, Nicole. We got our first apartment together and I still remember moving in that day. It had been over 15 years since we saw each other but we picked right back up and had a lot of fun with them, including her adorable and smart son Mason.
I didn’t take the camera down on the beach but I did to the aquarium and the waterslides! I only wish I’d gotten a photo of Nicole and I together.

I finally slogged through getting these edited and online. It is now 3:32am but I’m giddy – from being punchy true but also from seeing all these photos again of everyone there (me, Jeff, Hayley, Uncle Jay, Grandma Sharen and Grandpa John). Thanks to Jeff’s folks for this great trip.
There are hundreds of photos posted!

The end of the summer was nearing so we had to make one last trip to the beach – especially before the puppy arrived.
We didn’t even leave the hotel – thank you beachfront hotel with pool, room service, movie rentals and convenience store! Hayley made me watch some of the oddest shows – like The Contender and then Project Runway, back to back. Odd but I loved it because she is following her own beat despite what anyone thinks.
Photos from playing on the beach and at the aquarium. (These are from about 2 weeks ago).

Hayley is back from Camp Seafarer! This was her second year at the camp down the coast. She earned her ranks in golf, soccer and volleyball, sailed on speed and sailboats, swam, looked for shark’s teeth, did the zipline and all sorts of other stuff. She made some good friends and had some great counselors.
Some photos are ones that camp took, some are ones that we took dropping her off and picking her up.

We just got back from Atlantic Beach, had a fun time staying at a local hotel called the Windjammer that had all oceanfront rooms with balconies, pool, big hot tub and a walkway right down to the beach.
Of course, it was too cold to be in the pool or beach for too long but the hot tub was fine and Hayley found some kids to play with quickly.
Of course, Hayley and I ended up sunburned anyway – the curse of ash white people who won’t leave the sun & sand!
We had fun feeding the birds from our deck and watching them go NUTS for it. And my complete (unintentional) somersault in the ocean was rather interesting… getting the sand out of my ears only took a few showers!
Lost treasure mini-golf where Michelle hit two hole-in-ones in the first five holes (1st and 5th) was fun too. You had to ride a mini-train up to the top of the ‘mountain’ to start the courses.
All in all we had a great time and really relaxed a lot. We enjoyed Atlantic Beach but still prefer Nags Head more.
