In Hayley’s school, their grading scale is 4 – 1. It’s very odd but the grades go 1, 2, 3, 3* or 4. Scores of 1 or 2 indicate performance below grade level. 3 indicates performance at grade level and 3* means performance at grade level with evidence of application and 4 indicates performance above grade level. The 3 means you are right where you are supposed to be and doing fine, 3* means you did really well but 4 means WOW.
For the first time ever on a report card, Hayley got a 4!! Overall she got 4, 3*, 3, 3, and 3. We are SO proud of her. It’s been great to see her not just learn but share and get excited over things.
On the conduct/work habits (ie behavior) section – all checks. She’s normally got a few missing there, haha. And under ‘interventions’ which are extra things the school will do/offer to help her, for the first time ever there is nothing listed.
Please don’t think I’m being a braggart over this. She’s just never done this well and it took a lot of work from all of us to get to this point (mostly her of course!). We made some tough decisions about her academics a few years ago and we finally are getting some real confirmation we made the right moves.
And YES, my political science/history major self is thrilled the 4 came in social studies!

Hayley’s Jump Rope for Heart donation link

The American Heart Association’s online fundraising website has a minimum donation amount of $25.00. If you want to donate less, that’s ok. You can just send the check right to me and I’ll make sure the American Heart Association gets it.

Hayley was just too cute this morning. It is going to hit 70 degrees so she was dragging out cute spring stuff to wear.
Quick, someone stop her from growing up before I go nuts!
And yes, the sweater over the shoulders was Hayles’ idea – my little preppie in training tickles me!

Hayley on TV and we missed it!

A friend emailed us to tell us that Hayley was on the evening news on WTVD 11. We are trying to get a copy of it or see if they re-air the footage. It was just from her classroom at school, background for a school bonds story.
Of course Hayley didn’t even mention it! Who forgets to mention a TV crew in your classroom?!?! I guess she was just so engrossed in learning, hahaha.

Did you see the ABC News channel 11 this morning or last night at 11 ?
They were doing a story about the voting for the bond and the cameras must have come to school yesterday to tape our kids in the classroom and I saw Hayley in Ms. Hall’s class.
They showed Ms. Hall and then had a great shot of Hayley at her desk.
You might be able to see if again at noon and maybe again tonight because they are having a meeting at Green Hope High School about the bond so they may show it again.
They may even have it available online for you view.
I thought you would like to know in case they didn’t tell you she would be on TV.

Hayley’s school has a grandparents/special person breakfast as school twice a year. This year Jeff’s folks were coming down for the UNC-VT game that weekend, so they were able to go.
Hopefully next time they have this breakfast, Hayley will be able to bring even more people with her because the more love she gets, the better. And there is nothing better than grandparents!
