Halloween was a blast. All the prep work was worth it! We didn’t get many photos of the house that night but we did in the days before. Three themes – House Decorations, Hayley & friends and Annabelle as a Hula girl.

Photos from riding lessons from last week. Mason from next door came along to check out the stable as well. They are both so cute.
Hayley can now handle the horse basically on her own as well as ride bareback. She is definitely in a horse-y stage, she’d spent every day at the stable if she could!

This year we combined not only dyeing the eggs with Mason and Ethan next door but the hunt too. We had eggs spread out across both yards. Don’t you love having great neighbors just next door? Then there was the neighborhood hunt too!

Sleepover with two seven year olds – insane but it got better during the day.
I took Hayley and her friend to the TV station I used to work at for a tour from my old boss John who is head of interactive media. It was awesome! We got to watch a live broadcast from the level above it. Hayley got to meet her favorite news person meteorologist Elizabeth Gardner (she LOVES her).
We saw how a story develops from the news desk to the room where reporters assign stories, editing bay, master control extra sets and all sorts of things. Completely awesome for the kids.
Hayley and her friend got to sit at desk on the 2nd set and Hayley was like a natural! It was nutty, she just started broadcasting like a pro… you can tell this kid has watched a lot of news!!!! She was so poised, John and I just stood there with our mouths open!
Then the kids went nuts on the fountain outside – thank goodness they could run around and get the willies out. So we had a blast there.
Then we went to Bullwinkles for games and lunch. I hit the bonus on a game and won 212 tickets on one token! And Hayley actually won a stuffed animal on one of those crane games – unbelievable!
We came home, played lacrosse and they goofed off with bikes, scooters and green machine. I want to pass out for about 1,000 hours.

Photos from Christmas Eve next door at the Renfroes. This is the second year we’ve done this. Everyone just brings over some food and we snack away!
The kids are Hayley, Mason and Ethan, who are Wes and Jen’s, Joel who is John and Dawn’s son and Oleg who is Nancy and Mike’s son.

As many of you know, I’m the media director at the GlaxoSmithKline Invitational basketball tournament. Three days of awesome hoops at Reynolds in Raleigh.
Hayley came over and was ballgirl for about half the games. Then after the final night of play, to the consternation of the N.C. State staff, we all went out and shoot hoops. While none of us were State fans (me, Hayley and Alex are UNC fans, Bryan a UVA fan), it was an honorable old court worthy of a few photos of us playing on it. Of course, Hayley stomped on all the State stuff on the floor, which was awesome…

My dear friend Bryan (seen in many vacation photos) mentioned me in an article he wrote that was in about 10 papers across the state. It was short mention but one that gave me a pat on the back in a way only a few of us would understand.
Link: NCHSAA to release prep football playoff brackets today
Fans who want to see where their team will be playing in the first round can log onto http://www.nchsaa.org/ today. In past years, the brackets have been released first on ihigh.com, but the NCHSAA – which has been easing away from ihigh following the resignation of N.C. director Michelle Hillison – will use their own site this year.
